La Conferencia TREC, en su edición 2017, ha adoptado un algoritmo Bayesian Bandits desarrollado por David Losada (CITIUS-USC), Javier Parapar (CITIC-UDC) y Álvaro Barreiro (CITIC-UDC). Este algoritmo contribuirá a acelerar la investigación en Sistemas de Recuperación de Información (SRI) y será determinante en las pruebas de rendimiento que realizarán las universidades y las principales compañías de search engines sobre sus motores de búsqueda.
Las Conferencias TREC (Text Retrieval Conferences), promovidas y organizadas con carácter anual por el National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) de los Estados Unidos, son el exponente más reconocido a nivel internacional de las metodologías de evaluación de los Sistemas de Recuperación de la Información (SRI).
