Alejandro Mayorga explora a aprendizaxe automática cuántica aplicada á medicina do soño nos Almorzos TIC Talk
This Tuesday, 28 October, a new edition of the Desayunos TIC Talk took place — the conference series organised by the CITIC at the Universidade da Coruña. On this occasion, the session featured a lecture by Alejandro Mayorga Redondo titled “Quantum Machine Learning applied to signal processing in sleep medicine.”
During his presentation, Mayorga discussed how the combination of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing is giving rise to an emerging field with significant potential: Quantum Machine Learning (QML). This technology stands out as a highly promising tool for analysing the complex physiological signals recorded during sleep — a key domain within sleep medicine.
The speaker explained that techniques such as polysomnography, which record patients’ electrical and motor signals throughout the night, produce large volumes of data whose interpretation can be enhanced through quantum models. He presented the models developed so far, the results achieved to date, and the future research directions of his work.
Alejandro Mayorga’s research forms part of the project “New Generation Machine Learning Algorithms for the Analysis of Medical Sleep Recordings (NEXT-GEN-SOMNUS)”, which focuses on developing next-generation machine learning algorithms for the analysis of medical sleep recordings.
