Amparo Alonso, appointed Cabaleiro de Honra de María Pita

Amparo Alonso, researcher at the Center for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña, was named “Cabaleiro de Honra” of the Real Orden de Caballeros de María Pita.
The UDC professor in the area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence has participated in various activities of the entity and gave a lecture last July on “AI: opportunity and challenge”.
The Order of the Knights of María Pita was founded on May 2, 1990, in the historic house of María Pita, in Herrerías Street in the Old City of A Coruña, with the purpose of investigating and making known the figure of María Pita, her environment and her time, as well as the liberal character of the city of A Coruña.
