CITIC Talentos Inclusivos program participates in training for robotics workshops in Galician hospitals
Last Friday, November 22, the training day for the project “Robotics Workshops in Hospitals” was held at the Hotel Puerta del Camino in Santiago de Compostela. This initiative, promoted by the Professional College of Computer Engineering of Galicia (CPEIG) and the Ministry of Health, has the collaboration of CITIC. The project’s goal is to bring technology and robotics to Galician hospitals, offering an educational and motivating experience to hospitalized children.
During the day, the 15 attendees had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the robotic material that will be used in the activities and to train in the project’s pedagogical approach. The attendees were able to learn about the potential of resources such as Scratch, Micro:bit, MakeyMakey, drones, and programmable robots.
The training was provided by CITIC researchers, led by its deputy director, Javier Pereira, along with Jorge Rivadulla, Iago Fernández, Paula de Santos, and Irene Brage, who demonstrated the operation of the robotic elements that will be featured in the workshops.
This project, which will begin in 2024, will be developed in the seven hospital areas of Galicia, reaffirming the commitment of the participating entities to technology as a tool for inclusion and support in sensitive environments. The session on Friday allowed volunteers to work directly with the materials and resolve doubts regarding future activities.
