CITIC opens its doors to high school students in Science and Technology from IES Eusebio da Guarda and IES María Casares de Oleiros
CITIC has hosted numerous student visits this October. Recently, the center received students from IES Eusebio da Guarda and IES María Casares. In total, more than 50 students and their teachers participated. During the sessions, the students had the opportunity to get to know CITIC’s facilities firsthand, exploring the exciting world of science and technology.
The visits began at the Technology Demonstrator, where they could experiment with augmented reality glasses to visualize a 3D model of the CITIC building, interacting with the different rooms and laboratories of the center. They also had the opportunity to witness a demonstration of the humanoid robot NAO, which performed tai chi exercises, highlighting innovation in robotics.
The next stop was the museum dedicated to the history of video games, where students enjoyed playing the classic Donkey Kong on an arcade machine. They then visited the Data Processing Center (CPD), where curiosities about its operation were shared.
The visit culminated in the Virtual Reality Room, where a virtual supermarket designed by researcher Manuel Lagos was presented, aimed at helping in the physical and cognitive rehabilitation of people with reduced mobility.
School visits are an activity through which CITIC seeks to continue inspiring future generations in the field of scientific and technological research.
