The CITIC participates in the Open Science Cambre 2024 Fair
The Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies of the University of A Coruña participated this past weekend in the seventh edition of the Open Science Cambre 2024 Fair. The event, co-organized by the Cambre City Council and the Youth Association XentD100, brought together 500 students from educational centers in Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and Mexico, who presented 90 scientific projects.
On Sunday, September 22, CITIC had a stand for the “Inclusive Talents” project, a state-level reference program focused on the development of accessible technologies. During the day, various interactive activities related to the use of technology to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities were exhibited. These included a device developed to facilitate painting for people with reduced mobility; virtual reality activities designed to work on cognitive skills in people with intellectual disabilities, led by Iago Fernández Garrido; and an adaptation of controls for Nintendo Switch video games with Paula de Santos leading the initiative. Customized games for people with disabilities, such as “Shop with Me,” designed to facilitate the inclusion of people with disabilities in everyday environments, were also showcased.
Additionally, the project manager of Talentos Inclusivos, Irene Brage Vázquez, was part of the jury responsible for evaluating the stands and selecting the winning projects among the 90 presented.
The Open Science Cambre Fair is an excellent opportunity for the public to learn about innovative scientific projects and participate in activities such as workshops, shows, and drone demonstrations, among others. The event took place at various locations in the municipality of Cambre, including Parque da Igrexa, Campo da Feira, and the Sofía Toro pavilion.
CITIC reaffirms its commitment to inclusive science and technological dissemination, promoting the participation and talent of young researchers in events such as the Open Science Cambre 2024.
