CITIC receives a delegation from Chilean universities as part of the "Ingeniería 2030" project”

 A Coruña, April 24, 2024.- The University of A Coruña received today, April 24, a representation from the universities of Tarapacá and Valparaíso, as part of the “Ingeniería 2030, Development for the Regions” project, a joint initiative of these two Chilean universities, funded by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) of the Andean country, which is developed around eight main axes related to engineering, such as linkage with industry and society, commercialization and technology-based entrepreneurship, female participation, or international alliances, among others.

The day began with a meeting at the Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of UDC, where they were received by Manuel González Penedo, director of CITIC; Javier Pereira, deputy director; Javier Garrido, head of Transfer and Innovation; and Cristina Villar, head of International Projects. After the meeting, the Chilean representatives toured the research center’s facilities.

Next, they moved to the Office of Transfer of Research Results (OTRI), where they learned about the activities of the transfer offices related to knowledge protection, exploitation through licensing agreements, and the creation of knowledge-based companies (spin-offs), as well as relationships with the productive sector. There, they were received by Susana Ladra, deputy for Transfer of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of UDC, and Maribel Docampo, technical director of OTRI.

To conclude the day, the group visited the Center for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC) of UDC, where they were received by Fernando Martínez Abeja, scientific director; and Juan Rabuñal Dopico, technical director, and the center’s management team. There, they visited the wind tunnel, and the ports and coasts, construction, and hydraulics laboratories.
