The HispanIA 2040 report, presented last week, outlines twelve priority action lines to facilitate AI adoption, enhance internal development capabilities, and ensure its use aligns with ethical and responsible principles.
Amparo Alonso, a researcher at the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at UDC, contributed as an expert to the drafting of the HispanIA 2040 report. This key project analyzes the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the major challenges Spain will face in the coming decades. The official presentation of the report took place in Madrid on January 20, in the presence of the Prime Minister.
HispanIA 2040 identifies five priority areas where AI can transform Spain: modernizing the productive sector, strengthening the welfare state, promoting environmental sustainability, enhancing security and defense systems, and reducing inequality. The report, based on empirical evidence, highlights that AI adoption could bring significant improvements to Spanish society.
Among the key findings, the report states that AI could reduce waiting lists for specialized medical care by up to 22 days, optimizing resource allocation in the healthcare sector. Additionally, AI implementation in urban traffic management could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equivalent to 905,000 cars per year, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability. In education, AI could substantially improve academic performance nationwide, increasing math scores by up to 20 points on the PISA scale, equivalent to an additional six months of school learning.
The report also establishes twelve priority action lines to facilitate AI adoption, enhance internal development capabilities, and ensure its use aligns with ethical and responsible principles.
