  • The Domus Museum in A Coruña hosts the presentation of the 6th edition, bringing together 15 schools from across Galicia.
  • ICT projects will be developed focusing on home accessibility, inclusive games and leisure, and rehabilitation support, among others.
  • For the first time, Inditex joins the initiative to promote technological projects that foster the inclusion of people with disabilities.

A Coruña, November 5, 2025. The Talentos Inclusivos program, driven by the Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña, held today its opening ceremony for the sixth edition at the Domus Museum in A Coruña.

This initiative promotes social inclusion through science and technology and has earned national and international recognition. As one of CITIC’s hallmarks, the program strengthens the center’s commitment to high social-impact projects that support the integration of people with disabilities, raise public awareness, and promote science in service of the community.

In this edition, the program will feature the collaboration of Inditex for the first time. A group of professionals specialized in information and communication technologies will work with students and social organizations to design and implement technological solutions that address real challenges faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives.

The participation of Inditex’s volunteer professionals will bring technical knowledge and professional experience into the educational process, fostering hands-on, collaborative learning and placing technology at the service of inclusion.

This partnership aims to leverage the potential of public-private collaboration to strengthen a cutting-edge educational sector, promote innovation, and enhance inclusion for people with disabilities.

The program is supported by the Social Council of UDC, the A Coruña City Council, FECYT, Inditex, and the Regional Government of Galicia, through the Department of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training, and the Department of Social Policy and Equality. Its goal is to promote scientific vocations among Galician students while giving visibility to functional diversity. In this new edition, 15 secondary, high school, and vocational training centers across Galicia will work on challenges proposed by partner non-profit organizations such as ASPACE Coruña, Amanecer-ASPACE, APAMP, and the Red Cross (Training Center of A Coruña), which joined in the previous edition and focuses on the elderly community.

The experience gained from the 5th edition will serve as a guide for this year’s teams, following the development of diverse solutions such as a visual app with basic instructions for operating household appliances, designed to support the autonomy of people with Alzheimer’s; a 3D-printed pictogram system with an interactive board that plays aloud the corresponding word when each piece is placed; an outdoor basketball hoop adapted for inclusive sports; a therapeutic weighted blanket with lights for sensory stimulation; and a device that allows easier and safer operation of water taps, improving home accessibility.

Manuel G. Penedo, Director of CITIC, emphasized that “we reach the 6th edition consolidating Talentos Inclusivos as a benchmark in social and technological innovation born in the classroom. The program’s growth and the commitment of partner entities allow real solutions to reach the people and groups who need them.” He also noted that “the alliance between educational centers, social entities, and companies strengthens knowledge transfer and accelerates territorial impact.”

For his part, Javier Pereira, Deputy Director of CITIC and project coordinator, highlighted “the opportunity for students to apply ICT for a real social purpose, working directly with users and professionals who provide them with a practical, ethical, and inclusive perspective on technology.”

The event featured representatives from collaborating entities and institutions — the Regional Government of Galicia, the A Coruña City Council, the A Coruña Provincial Council, and the University of A Coruña. Throughout the session, ASPACE Coruña users, CITIC researchers, and teachers and students from participating schools shared experiences and lessons from previous editions.

About Talentos Inclusivos

Talentos Inclusivos is a project led by CITIC and developed throughout the school year, supported by FECYT (the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology). Its goal is to inspire STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) vocations among young people and raise awareness about disability through collaborative teams working to solve technological challenges proposed by people with cerebral palsy.

Through this project, secondary and high school students from various Galician institutions will develop technological solutions to a series of challenges presented by users of ASPACE Coruña, Amanecer-ASPACE, APAMP, and the Red Cross A Coruña.
