Inditex–UDC Chair in Green Algorithms organizes the first Symposium on Green Artificial Intelligence at CITIC, University of A Coruña
- The event will take place on 25 and 26 November 2025, in a hybrid format, and will bring together international specialists to discuss the challenges and opportunities of sustainable AI.
A Coruña, 12 November 2025.- On 25 and 26 November, the Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at the University of A Coruña will host the First Symposium on Green Artificial Intelligence, an initiative promoted by the Inditex–UDC Chair in Green Algorithms. The event will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions in A Coruña and virtual access for remote participants.
The symposium aims to create a meeting space for the research community, industry stakeholders, and public institutions to address current challenges in Artificial Intelligence from a sustainability and environmental responsibility perspective.
Climate change affects all areas of society, and computational activity—including AI models and data centres—has already become a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. In response, the Chair advocates for a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach that advances the development of more sustainable algorithms, energy-efficient models, and applications that actively contribute to mitigating the climate crisis.
The symposium programme will include keynote lectures, round-table discussions, and presentations of research and citizen-science projects led by the Chair, as well as other initiatives in the field of so-called Green AI, featuring broad participation from leading experts in the discipline.
Invited Speakers
The event will feature international experts who will provide critical and multidisciplinary insights into the challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence for sustainable development:
