Javier Bustos to speak at CITIC on how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing Internet analysis

21/10/2025 - CITIC
  • The conference will take place on October 27 in the Cloud Room of the UDC’s ICT Center.

Next Monday, October 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., CITIC will host the conference titled “AI/ML in Network Protocol Analysis”, delivered by Chilean researcher Javier Bustos Jiménez, an expert in networks, security, and Internet privacy. The talk will be held in CITIC’s Cloud Room and has been organized by researcher Víctor Carneiro.

In this conference, Javier Bustos will present the trajectory of NIC Labs, Chile’s research and development laboratory responsible for managing the .cl domain and promoting technological innovation in the Internet field. Since 2015, the laboratory has been applying artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML) to the analysis of network protocols.

Throughout the session, projects such as DNS trace analysis for anomaly or phishing detection, the development of automated phishing detection systems, and antenna survival studies will be discussed, among other innovative AI and ML-based approaches. The presentation will offer an integrated and practical view of how these technologies have been applied in real network environments, highlighting the progress achieved by NIC Labs and the ongoing challenges in this ever-evolving field.
