Javier Pereira Participates in the APURF 2025 Congress, Focused on AI in Medical Training and Clinical Practice
The Cuenca campus of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) hosted the 40th Seminar of the Association of Professors of Radiology and Physical Medicine (APURF), which brought together more than 30 educators and research staff from across Spain. This year’s edition, held from May 8 to 10, continued the technological focus initiated in 2024 at CITIC, strengthening the debate on the role of artificial intelligence in medical education and healthcare.
The Deputy Director of CITIC, Javier Pereira, once again took an active role in the congress, following his position as local organizer of the previous edition. During the sessions, participants presented advances in the use of language models such as ChatGPT to solve MIR exam questions supported by radiological images, generative AI tools for automated exam correction, and metaverse environments applied to teaching. Innovative teaching experiences were also shared, such as a radiological map of the Port of Cartagena and projects on medical hydrology and biological dosimetry.
This edition was hosted by UCLM with institutional support from APURF and featured the participation of representatives from both academia and the healthcare sector. The congress concluded with the association’s General Assembly, where new teaching accreditations linked to improvements in the university system were discussed.
The event highlighted that artificial intelligence, beyond its technical potential, represents an educational and healthcare revolution in full expansion.
