CITIC researcher David Alonso Ríos attended the 2023 International Conference on Research in Adaptive and Convergent Systems that took place in the city of Gdańsk (Poland) from August 6 to 10.

There he presented the paper “Usability Heuristics and Guidelines for RESTful APIs and Application to the Twitter API”, in which also collaborate Eduardo Mosqueira Rey, researcher at CITIC, and Nerea Vázquez Callejón, software engineer.

The research proposes 27 usability heuristics and 75 usability guidelines for RESTful APIs. All of them are obtained from a systematic and generalizable methodology based on taxonomies. The first step is to perform a literature review on recommendations for RESTful APIs. These recommendations are then synthesized and matched with the taxonomies. As a result, new recommendations that were not covered by the literature are also obtained. Finally, the usefulness of all of this is shown with a practical example, in this case a heuristic evaluation of the Twitter RESTful API.
