28/05/2025 - CITIC

Researcher Paula de Santos Dorrego, an occupational therapist from the TICARE Project at CITIC (UDC), represented the center at the 1st International Congress of the General Council of Colleges of Occupational Therapists (CGCTO), held in Madrid from May 22 to 24. During the event, she led a hands-on workshop focused on the use of 3D printing for the design and creation of personalized assistive products.

In the workshop, held on May 23, the researcher showcased the potential of this technology as an innovative tool in occupational therapy practice, presenting real-life examples developed within the CITIC environment. These products, designed to improve accessibility and participation for people with disabilities, demonstrate the positive impact of collaboration between technology and social and healthcare services.

As a recognition of research efforts, a commemorative gift was designed and 3D-printed and presented to the authors of the best oral presentation and best scientific poster of the congress, symbolizing the connection between technology and accessibility.

Participation in this international congress reinforces CITIC’s role as a benchmark in the application of emerging technologies in the service of society, strengthening its contribution to improving quality of life for all.
