Adriana Dapena, a researcher from CITIC at the University of A Coruña, delivered a talk on January 15th about human-machine interfaces to first-year high school students at Manuel Peleteiro School in Santiago de Compostela.

During the session, titled “Human-Machine Interfaces Based on Electroencephalography Signals” and aimed at technology class students, Adriana Dapena offered an overview of how brain-signal-based technologies are transforming the interaction between humans and machines.

The talk covered everything from the scientific and technical foundations of these interfaces to their historical evolution and practical applications in the field of accessibility. Following this introduction, the researcher led a practical workshop where students had the opportunity to engage in developing a system for controlling objects through the detection of eye states.

This activity allowed students to familiarize themselves with one of the research lines of the Electronic Technology and Communications Group (GTEC) at CITIC, of which the researcher is a member, and aimed to spark their interest in the world of science and technology.
