Salvador Naya speaks at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Galicia about the "power of data in the digital age"

11/06/2024 - CITIC

Salvador Naya, researcher at CITIC of the Universidade da Coruña, will give a lecture titled «Transforming the Future Through Information: Data in the Digital Age» this Thursday at 7:00 PM at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Galicia (Rúa Durán Loriga, 10, A Coruña). The session will be presented by Jesús Reboredo, territorial doctor of DKV, while the president of RAMG, Francisco Martelo, will close this informative session.

Salvador Naya will explain how data has evolved throughout history, from simple metrics and figures recorded in accounting books to becoming a source of knowledge and transformation in the digital age. In his presentation, the CITIC researcher highlights that today data comes from various sources, from user-generated content on the internet to the vast datasets used in scientific research. This abundance of data has opened up new possibilities in multiple fields, especially in the medical field, where the analysis of patient data, clinical records, and research studies has improved diagnoses, personalized treatments, and optimized processes.

Naya will also address the challenges associated with managing this flood of information, such as data quality, privacy, and security, as well as its implications for artificial intelligence. Without the foundation of AI models, techniques such as data mining, machine learning, and predictive analysis would not be possible. These techniques are essential for making informed decisions and fully leveraging the potential of data.
