Six CITIC researchers named among the World’s most influential scientists according to Stanford University Ranking
- The World’s Top 2% Scientist List is considered one of the most prestigious in the world.
A Coruña, November, 18, 2024 – Six researchers from the Center for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at the University of A Coruña (UDC) are highlighted this year for being included in the prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientist List from Stanford University. This international ranking, one of the most recognized worldwide, identifies the top 2% of the most influential scientists across all fields of knowledge, based on analysis of citations and scientific production collected in the Scopus database, provided by Elsevier.
The CITIC researchers recognized for their global scientific impact and trajectory are Tiago M. Fernández Caramés, Verónica Bolón Canedo, Alejandro Pazos Sierra, Paula Fraga Lamas, Diego Darriba López, and Amparo Alonso Betanzos. These recognitions reflect the impact of CITIC in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and enabling technologies, positioning the center as a leader in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) research and strengthening UDC’s role in the global scientific community.
Stanford’s list offers two classifications: one based on the researchers’ entire professional career and the other focused on achievements over the past year. In the former, internationally renowned figures such as Alejandro Pazos Sierra and Amparo Alonso Betanzos from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies, as well as Tiago M. Fernández Caramés and Paula Fraga Lamas from the Department of Computer Engineering, are recognized, alongside other CITIC members.
These six researchers from CITIC are part of the 23 UDC members included in the World’s Top 2% Scientist List, reaffirming the university’s position as a global leader in science and technology and amplifying the global impact of its scientific contributions.
