The Center for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at the University of A Coruña welcomed a visit from 32 students from IES Mosteirón in Sada this Tuesday. The students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the center’s technological capabilities through a guided tour of its most cutting-edge facilities. The visit was divided into two groups so they could also visit the facilities of the Center for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC) at the UDC.

During the visit, the students explored the Technological Demonstrator, where they were introduced to a variety of innovative projects: the polyp detector, the ataxia diagnosis system, the NAO humanoid robot, a research drone, the EEG headset, and the educational robot Robobo.

The tour continued in the Robotics Room, where they interacted with advanced robots such as the robot dogs, the assistive robot Tiago, the Summit vehicle, and a robotic arm designed for precision tasks.

In the Virtual Reality and Localization Room, the students had an immersive experience with the Optitrack motion capture system and also experimented with haptic gloves and virtual reality technologies.

The visit also included a stop at the Data Processing Center (DPC), a key hub for processing large volumes of information, and the OitoBits Room, a space dedicated to creativity and digital outreach.

With this activity, CITIC reaffirms its commitment to scientific outreach and the promotion of technological vocations, bringing students closer to current challenges in research and innovation. This type of initiative aims to inspire new generations and foster their interest in science and technology from an early age.
