A Coruña, May 23, 2025.– During the meeting of the Women and Science Unit promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, the appointments of UDC professors and researchers Susana Ladra and Ana Jesús López as members of the Unit were formalized. This body, driven by the regional government, serves as a collegiate advisory board on matters of equality.

Susana Ladra González, professor in the field of Computer Languages and Systems and researcher at CITIC, joins the Unit as an expert in the scientific and technological field, nominated by the Galician Agency for Technological Modernization (AMTEGA).

Ana Jesús López Díaz, professor in the field of Mechanical Engineering and researcher at CITENI, also joins as an expert in the scientific and technological field, nominated by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN).

For Susana Ladra, being part of this body represents “an honor and a responsibility. It reflects my commitment to building more inclusive and equitable scientific environments. Incorporating a gender perspective in science and technology is key to eliminating bias and advancing toward fairer, more representative innovation.”

The Women and Science Unit of Galicia

The Women and Science Unit of Galicia was created by the Xunta de Galicia with the aim of energizing and transforming the Galician scientific and technological field from a gender perspective, promoting equality between women and men, and breaking down gender stereotypes.

It is a priority to design and promote scientific, technological, educational, and social policies that address imbalances between male and female researchers. A greater presence of women in research will enrich scientific activity by incorporating new perspectives.
