Talentos Inclusivos expands its international reach at the annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference
- The technological-educational program of CITIC at UDC, which has developed more than 70 solutions to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, strengthens its global reach with its participation in this world forum in Los Angeles.
A Coruña, March 14, 2025.- The Talentos Inclusivos project, promoted by CITIC at the University of A Coruña (UDC), continues its growth and consolidation on the international stage following its participation in the Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, the world’s leading forum on technology and accessibility for people with disabilities, held in Anaheim (Los Angeles, California).
CITIC’s Deputy Director, Javier Pereira, and Project Manager, Irene Brage, attended the event to present the achievements and potential of Talentos Inclusivos as an innovative model integrating ICT, education, and inclusion. This program not only fosters STEM vocations among young people but also raises awareness of the reality of disability through the development of technological solutions in collaborative teams alongside people with cerebral palsy.
A global showcase for accessibility and technology
The Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference is an international benchmark in accessibility and innovation, with 40 editions to its name. This year, it brought together more than 5,000 attendees, including researchers, the educational community, and industry professionals, who discussed the future of assistive technology in keynote speeches, demonstrations, and technical sessions.
The international outreach of Talentos Inclusivos at this prestigious conference adds to its participation in the European Erasmus+ program “EDIGIT: Education and Digital Literacy to Grow Inclusive Talents,” led by CITIC in the 2024 call for proposals.
This initiative aims to reduce the inclusion gap for people with disabilities in the digital transition, promoting accessible approaches to STEM education. Its primary goal is to equip teachers with tools and skills to develop inclusive methodologies, increasing students’ awareness of disabilities.
The EDIGIT consortium consists of six institutions from five countries: Academia José Moreira da Silva and Cooperativa de Estudos de Economia Social (Portugal), Kezenfogva Osszefogas A Foyatekosokert Alapitvany (Hungary), Gymnázium Jiřího Gutha-Jarkovského (Czech Republic), ASPACE Coruña and On Projects Advising SL (Spain), and Polo Europeo della Conoscenza – IC Bosco Chiesanuova (Italy).
Innovation and commitment to Inclusion
With five years of experience, Talentos Inclusivos has made a significant impact on both the educational and technological communities. It has developed more than 70 technological solutions to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, promoting inclusive science as a fundamental pillar.
In the 2024 edition, the program involved 15 schools in Galicia, engaging more than 500 students and 50 people with disabilities in the development of innovative technological solutions. Currently, the fifth edition is underway, featuring educational centers from across the Galician region, developing a total of 59 technological challenges.
One of the latest recognitions received was the Science and Human Values Award at the XXV edition of the Ciencia en Acción competition, providing a new boost to continue developing innovative and accessible projects that contribute to a more equitable society.
