Talentos Inclusivos makes the leap to Europe through the Erasmus+ program
- “Education and Digital Literacy to Grow Inclusive Talents,” led by the CITIC of the Universidade da Coruña, will be funded with €400,000 through the Erasmus+ program in the 2024 call.
The project is composed of six other institutions from five different countries in addition to the CITIC of UDC.
A Coruña, September 20, 2024.- The international version of the Inclusive Talents project, “EDIGIT: Education and Digital Literacy to Grow Inclusive Talents,” led by the Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), will be funded with €400,000 through the Erasmus+ program in the 2024 call. This initiative was selected among 34 chosen from the “Key Action 2 – Cooperation between organizations and institutions,” within the category “Cooperation Partnerships in School Education (KA220-SCH)” out of a total of 205 applications submitted.
The general objective of EDIGIT is to address the lack of inclusion of people with disabilities in the digital transition by promoting inclusive approaches and practices in STEM education, increasing student awareness about disability. To this end, the project focuses on equipping teachers with the necessary skills to develop inclusion-centered initiatives in STEM teaching.
In addition to the CITIC of UDC, the project includes six other institutions from five different countries: Academia José Moreira da Silva, Cooperativa de Estudos de Economia Social (Portugal); Kezenfogva Osszefogas A Foyatekosokert Alapitvany (Hungary); Gymnázium Jiřího Gutha-Jarkovského (Czech Republic); ASPACE Coruña (Spain); Polo Europeo della Conoscenza – IC Bosco Chiesanuova (Italy); and On Projects Advising SL (Spain).
As noted by CITIC’s deputy director Javier Pereira, who leads the project: “This is recognition and a validation of the work developed over the past five years alongside ASPACE Coruña with the Inclusive Talents project. Since its inception, in the midst of the pandemic, we have had funding from FECYT and support from the Social Council of UDC, the City Council of A Coruña, and the Xunta de Galicia. This year, we mobilized 15 educational centers across Galicia, involving nearly 400 students. This funding represents a new challenge for an international organization involving five countries.”

About Talentos Inclusivos
Talentos Inclusivos is a project developed by the CITIC of UDC and ASPACE Coruña, supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; the Social Council of UDC; the City Council of A Coruña; and the Xunta de Galicia through the Departments of Education, Science, Universities, and Vocational Training, and Social Policy and Equality.
Its objective is to inspire STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) vocations among young people and raise awareness of the realities of disability through collaborative teams tasked with solving technological challenges posed by individuals with cerebral palsy.
Through this project, secondary and high school students from various institutes in Galicia are required to seek technological solutions to a series of challenges proposed by users of ASPACE Coruña, Amencer-ASPACE, and the Association of Families of Persons with Cerebral Palsy (APAMP).
