Technological solutions for people with cerebral palsy by ASPACE Coruña and multilingual secondary school Eusebio da Guarda
- The CITIC and ASPACE Coruña Inclusive Talents project continues its development by testing ICT challenges in situ.
The facilities of ASPACE Coruña in Sada hosted today a conference on cerebral palsy for a group of 12 students between 15 and 16 years old of multilingual secondary school Eusebio da Guarda (A Coruña) who participate in the Inclusive Talents project. During the visit, ASPACE Coruña participants were able to check the operation of some of the ICT solutions developed by the students at the request of ASPACE Coruña, such as an adapted blower and a portable table for a wheelchair.
The event, which was also participated by representatives of the CITIC of the UDC and ASPACE Coruña, was attended by the general director of Innovation and University Management of the Xunta de Galicia, Judith Fernandez Novoa.
Inclusive Talents is a collaborative project started by CITIC (ICT Research Center) of the University of A Coruña and ASPACE Coruña (Association of Parents of People with Cerebral Palsy), with the support of the Social Council of the University of A Coruña, the A Coruña city municipality, the FECYT (Spanish Science and Technology Foundation, dependent on the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades), and the regional authority Xunta de Galicia. The project has the dual objective of promoting ICT vocations among secondary and high school students and, at the same time, giving visibility to the disability. For this purpose, collaborative work groups were created, formed by users of ASPACE Coruña and students from schools in A Coruña, supported by their teachers and research staff from CITIC. In this way, the users of ASPACE Coruña proposed different technological challenges that are to be solved by the students.
