The ADCOR Foundation and researchers from CITIC join forces to promote technological inclusion with the new project "tuTIC"
A Coruña, August 21, 2024.– The ADCOR Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of adults in situations of dependency, has started a learning and service collaboration through the new project “tuTIC: Technology, Inclusion, and Creativity”, supported by CITIC (Center for Research in Information and Communication Technologies). This project, led by researchers Paula Castro and Adriana Dapena, aims to develop activities adapted to the capabilities of ADCOR users, promoting creativity and inclusion in the technological field.
This collaborative effort is part of a series of initiatives that the researchers have led since 2019, highlighting their commitment to social inclusion through technology. “tuTIC” involves students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of A Coruña, who have developed personalized projects for users of the entity. The results of these works were presented in a workshop held in July at the ADCOR Foundation headquarters, demonstrating the positive impact of technology on improving the quality of life of these groups. In the workshop, a group of ADCOR users played melodies on a digital piano and enjoyed an interactive game based on “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”.
This new project follows in the footsteps of the award-winning “Technology and Society”, which has been recognized for its innovative approach to creating inclusive classrooms through science and technology projects. Additionally, CITIC researchers have actively participated in events such as Science Day on the Street in A Coruña and Cullerciencia in Culleredo, reaffirming their commitment to scientific dissemination and inclusion.
With the incorporation of the ADCOR Foundation into this collaboration network, CITIC’s mission to use technology as a key tool for inclusion and social well-being is reinforced. Researchers Adriana Dapena and Paula Castro collaborate with the ADCOR Foundation through the project “tuTIC: Technology, Inclusion, and Creativity”.
