The CITIC of UDC welcomes visiting researchers as part of the RAICEX Scientific Mission
- Representatives from the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers and Scientists Abroad (RAICEX) visited CICA, CITIC, and CITEEC, guided by the research staff of each center.
- At CITIC, they were received by the center’s management team, who presented the research lines developed at the institution.
- The visit is part of an international collaboration agreement between the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) and RAICEX, within the framework of the Xunta de Galicia’s Oportunius program. The goal is to showcase Galicia’s R&D&I ecosystem and promote scientific collaborations between Galicia and the Nordic and Baltic countries.
A Coruña, November 6, 2025.-The University of A Coruña hosted this morning the visit of the mission organized by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) in collaboration with the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers Abroad (RAICEX), within the framework of the Xunta de Galicia’s Oportunius program. The initiative aims to enhance the visibility of Galician science abroad and foster new lines of international cooperation between researchers working in Nordic and Baltic countries and Galician research groups.
The delegation included Spanish researchers working in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, and Latvia, as well as representatives of the RAICEX associations in these countries, who act as “ambassadors” to strengthen the connection between the Galician and European scientific ecosystems.
During their stay at UDC, the mission held a session focused on A Coruña’s research centers, with a program that included visits to CICA (Interdisciplinary Center for Chemistry and Biology), CITIC (Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies), and CITEEC (Technological Innovation Center in Building and Civil Engineering).
The welcome event featured the participation of the Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Jerónimo Puertas; the Director of the Research Talent Attraction Office (OCPI), José A. Mahía; and the Director of CICA, Jaime Rodríguez, who presented the main R&D&I lines of the University of A Coruña and its network of research centers.
The program also included presentations on research and internationalization support services —the Research Talent Attraction Office, the EURAXESS Point, and the International Projects Office— along with bilateral meetings between visiting researchers and UDC research groups to explore possible synergies and joint projects.
Among the participants were Antonio García-Moyano (NORCE Norwegian Research Centre); Antonio J. Capezza (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden); María Fernández Míguez (University of Bergen); Roberto Leiras González (University of Copenhagen); and representatives of the RAICEX associations in the Nordic and Baltic countries: Carlos Viscasillas Vázquez (ACE Baltic); Francisco Javier Vilaplana Domingo (ACES); and Alberto Valero-García (IENO).
The visit to the University of A Coruña is part of a broader three-day program, held between November 5 and 7, which includes meetings at various Galician R&D&I institutions with the goal of strengthening the international projection of Galician research and fostering new scientific cooperation networks.
