The University of A Coruña opens pre-registration for its two new own degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Green Algorithms
- CITIC of UDC will host the Expert Course in Artificial Intelligence and Green Algorithms and the Microcredential Green Algorithms for Artificial Intelligence: Design and Implementation
- The course will be held from September to December 2025, and the microcredential from September to October of the same year.
A Coruña, May 20, 2025. – The University of A Coruña has opened, until June 15, the pre-registration period for the first edition of two new own degrees: the Expert Course in Artificial Intelligence and Green Algorithms, which will run from September to December 2025, and the Microcredential Green Algorithms for Artificial Intelligence: Design and Implementation, which will take place from September to October of the same year.
Both the expert course and this first microcredential will be offered for the first time at the University of A Coruña. The training will be held at the Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of UDC, located on the Elviña Campus.
Expert Course
With 25 ECTS credits and a total of 625 training hours, the Expert Course in Artificial Intelligence and Green Algorithms is especially aimed at professionals and individuals interested in acquiring practical knowledge on the development and application of artificial intelligence techniques from a sustainable perspective. The program will be delivered by an interdisciplinary teaching team composed of UDC research staff and specialists from leading tech companies, as well as from other universities.
The training will have a strong practical focus, structured into modules that range from the fundamentals of AI to its sustainable application in real-world environments. Students will work on collaborative projects and solve challenges related to sustainability and digital transformation. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
To enroll in this course, a university degree in ICT-related areas or engineering is required, as well as programming knowledge.
Microcredential
The Microcredential Green Algorithms for Artificial Intelligence: Design and Implementation, worth 6 ECTS credits, offers intensive training over five weeks, with classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The course is designed for individuals with prior programming knowledge who hold at least a high school diploma, BUP, FPII, or a Higher Vocational Training Certificate.
The microcredential focuses on practical and specialized training in the use of cutting-edge technologies such as CPUs and TPUs, which accelerate the development of machine learning models. The course will also cover techniques for optimizing architectures and algorithms, promoting efficient and sustainable implementation in real environments.
The training is designed to meet the needs of different profiles. In the academic field, it expands the training offer and promotes more environmentally respectful technological approaches. In the scientific context, it equips researchers to innovate in the design of efficient AI models, combining theory and practice. From a professional standpoint, it addresses the growing demand for AI experts with solid technical training and a clear understanding of sustainability challenges.
This microcredential is part of the “Green Algorithms for Artificial Intelligence” program, a pioneering initiative made up of four complementary microcredentials. This is the first one to be offered during the 2025/2026 academic year. Completing all four microcredentials entitles the student to obtain a Nanomaster’s degree, recognized for its specialization in sustainable AI and green technologies.
With this new training offer, UDC demonstrates its commitment to advanced education, technological innovation, and environmental sustainability.
