 The international workshop “AI in Education and Educational Research (AIEER)” 2024 will be held as part of the 27th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI) 2024, on October 19 and 20, 2024, at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela. CITIC researchers Francisco Bellas and Óscar Fontenla are the organizers of this workshop on AI in Education and Educational Research, in collaboration with the University of A Coruña, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB, Germany), and the Universities of Bonn and Koblenz (Germany). The event focuses on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational field.

With two complementary approaches, the workshop addresses both the technical and interdisciplinary aspects of AI application in education. The first approach focuses on technical issues, exploring specific AI methods applied to content creation, student profiling, learning analytics, and intelligent tutoring systems. The second approach takes a broader perspective, considering the social and educational implications of AI use in education.

“We are at a crucial development stage in this field, where AI and education experts must collaborate to achieve optimal use of this technology in teaching and learning processes,” says CITIC researcher Francisco Bellas.

The workshop presents an opportunity for researchers, educators, and professionals interested in the intersection of AI and education to exchange ideas, present new advances, and reflect on the current and future state of this constantly evolving field.

ECAI 2024

ECAI 2024 will take place from October 19 to 24 in Santiago de Compostela, organized by CiTIUS of USC with the support of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) and the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA).
