
El CITIC de la UDC recibe 1,9 millones de euros en la convocatoria de la Xunta de Galicia para impulsar grupos de investigación de excelencia

The Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) has achieved remarkable success in the call for grants for the consolidation and structuring of competitive research units of the Xunta de Galicia, reaffirming its position as a benchmark in innovation and technological development within the regional ecosystem. In this regard, eight proposals have been selected in this call, amounting to a total of €1,929,000.
In Category A – Competitive Reference Groups (GRC), researchers Richard Duro and Juan Touriño have obtained the maximum funding amount, with €420,000. Also selected in this category were Javier Parapar López (€300,000) and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Luaces (€340,000). This group of grants encompasses those research groups which, due to their scientific output and R&D activity, are a reference within the Galician R&D&I System.
In Category B – Emerging Growth Potential Groups (GPC), the proposals of Javier Pereira Loureiro, who receives the maximum amount in this category (€124,500), and José Antonio Iglesias Guitián (€94,500) were selected. This category recognizes research groups with the capacity to become reference groups within the Galician R&D&I system.
Meanwhile, in Category C – Grants for Researchers with Excellent Trajectories, Diego Álvarez Estévez and Álvaro Leitao Rodríguez were awarded the maximum amount granted, €115,000.
In total, the University of A Coruña has obtained €5.1 million, representing an increase of more than 40% in the acquisition of these funds compared to the previous call, with 27 proposals selected. In addition to those attached to CITIC, a further 8 proposals belong to CICA (Interdisciplinary Center for Chemistry and Biology), 4 to CITEEC (Technological Innovation Center in Building and Civil Engineering) and 2 to CITENI (Research Center in Naval and Industrial Technologies). Added to these is a proposal from an excellent researcher attached to CISPAC (Interuniversity Center for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes).
These grants are allocated to cover costs such as the recruitment of research or auxiliary staff, management tools, small-scale equipment and consumables, bibliographic material, as well as registration fees for courses, conferences, seminars or research stays, among others.
