• The competition will hold its third edition on March 14th simultaneously in A Coruña, Vigo, and online.
• The top three teams will receive prizes of €1,000, €700, and €400, in addition to gifts for participants in the in-person modality.
• It is part of the TalentoCibeR event, which will include workshops and a panel discussion on employability in cybersecurity.

On March 14th, the third edition of the CITIC Cyber Competition (C3TF) will take place, a competition designed for students to test their cybersecurity skills. The event is organized by the Centro de Investigación en Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (CITIC) of the Universidade da Coruña (UDC) in collaboration with atlanTTic of the Universidade de Vigo (UVigo), and sponsored by the Cátedra R en Ciberseguridade.

This cybersecurity competition will be conducted in CTF style, from the English “Capture The Flag”. Participants will attempt to solve a variety of challenges related to computer security to find “flags” or tokens that represent points. These challenges can cover a wide range of areas in computer security, such as cryptography, steganography, forensic analysis, reverse engineering, web application hacking, vulnerability exploitation, among others.

In the last edition of the CITIC Cyber Competition, 32 teams formed by high school, vocational training, undergraduate, and master’s students participated. In total, of the 119 students, 50 competed from CITIC of the UDC, 29 from atlanTTic of the UVigo, and 40 remotely.

Modalities and prizes

People who are currently studying (2023/2024) or who have completed their studies during the previous cycle can participate in the competition. Registration is mandatory and must be done in teams of up to 5 people. Participation can be either in person, at CITIC of the UDC or at atlanTTic of the UVigo, or online. The competition will last 4 hours, from 15:30 to 20:30, on March 14th.

At the end, there will be an award ceremony for the top three teams: the first team will receive €1,000, the second €700, and the third €400. Additionally, there will be gifts and a snack for all participants in the in-person modality. Spaces are limited.

TalentoCibeR Event

The CITIC Cyber Competition (C3TF) is held within the first edition of the TalentoCibeR event. Starting at 10:30, two practical workshops and a panel discussion will be held to showcase cybersecurity talent in Galicia and promote new vocations through the connection between companies and students. The event will be held in person and simultaneously at CITIC of the UDC (A Coruña) and at the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the UVigo (Vigo).
