
CITIC Hosts a lecture by Professor Paulo Cortez, a European leader in Artificial Intelligence
The Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at the Universidade da Coruña is organizing a lecture by Professor Paulo Cortez, Full Professor at the Universidade do Minho and one of Europe’s most prominent voices in applied artificial intelligence. The talk, titled “Artificial Intelligence for Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics: Methods and Applications,” will take place on Monday, July 7, at 12:00 PM in CITIC’s Cloud Room.
This event is part of CITIC’s ongoing commitment to promoting the exchange of scientific knowledge and collaboration with internationally renowned research centers. Attendance will be possible both in person and online, upon prior registration via this link.
Professor Paulo Cortez was recently awarded the Portuguese Excellence Professor of Artificial Intelligence 2025 distinction by the Ramón Areces Foundation in recognition of his outstanding research career. He has authored more than 220 publications in international journals and conferences, holds an h-index of 53 on Google Scholar and 33 on Scopus, with over 15,800 and 6,500 citations respectively. He currently serves as Full Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the University of Minho and as Deputy Director of the ALGORITMI research center, where he conducts work in fields such as business analytics, decision support systems, neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, and data science.
At the end of the session, CITIC will offer attendees the opportunity to hold individual meetings with Professor Cortez to explore potential collaboration opportunities and present current research lines in artificial intelligence and data science being developed at the Universidade da Coruña.
The lecture will be delivered in English and is open to the entire research and professional community interested in the applications of artificial intelligence in predictive and prescriptive analytics.
