  • The research center of UDC hosted the first in-person meeting of the Erasmus+ project “Education and Digital Literacy to Grow Inclusive Talents” (EDIGIT).
  • The program, led by CITIC, advances towards inclusive and digital education in STEM disciplines in collaboration with several European countries.

A Coruña, January 22, 2025.- CITIC at UDC was the venue for the first in-person meeting of EDIGIT, the international version of the Talentos Inclusivos project. The meeting, held this week, brought together representatives from various European countries such as Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Spain to begin the project’s work.

The main objective of the initiative is to promote the participation of people with disabilities in the digital transition, fostering inclusive approaches in the teaching of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. Through this European project, the aim is to equip teachers with the necessary skills to develop initiatives focused on inclusion within these educational fields.

During the meeting, participants worked on defining the methodological and pedagogical approach that will guide the development of the project’s educational content. This work is part of a set of activities focused on creating inclusive educational materials adapted to the needs of teachers and students in a digital environment. Additionally, an approach was taken to define key competencies, the structure of training modules, and the digitalization requirements necessary to ensure that the content is accessible and effective. These issues will be addressed in a first draft to be presented soon.

The project consortium, led by CITIC, includes six other institutions from five different countries: Academia José Moreira da Silva (Portugal), Kezenfogva Osszefogas A Foyatekosokert Alapitvany (Hungary), Gymnázium Jiřího Gutha-Jarkovského (Czech Republic), ASPACE Coruña (Spain), Polo Europeo della Conoscenza – IC Bosco Chiesanuova (Italy), and On Projects Advising SL (Spain).

One of the main objectives of this first meeting was to create methodological and pedagogical guidelines that will serve as the basis for the development of training modules, which are designed to raise awareness among students about disability, promote inclusive teaching, and facilitate the digital transition in educational centers.

CITIC emphasizes the importance of this international collaboration to create educational resources that promote greater inclusion and equity in digital education. The EDIGIT project is committed to providing high-quality training that not only improves teachers’ digital skills but also makes STEM education an accessible and inclusive experience for all.

About Talentos Inclusivos

Talentos Inclusivos is a project developed by CITIC at UDC and ASPACE Coruña, supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities; the Social Council of UDC; the City Council of A Coruña; and the Xunta de Galicia through the Departments of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training, and Social Policy and Equality.

Its objective is to inspire STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) vocations among young people and raise awareness about disability through collaborative work teams to solve technological challenges posed by people with cerebral palsy.

Through this project, secondary and high school students from various educational centers in Galicia have to find technological solutions to a series of challenges proposed by users of the ASPACE Coruña, Amencer-ASPACE, and the Association of Families of People with Cerebral Palsy (APAMP).
