The CITIC of the University of A Coruña hosted the research meeting Elas no Prelo II. Mulleres no mundo da edición na Galiza focused on making a contribution to the analysis of the participation of women in the Galician publishing world. This meeting is part of the work linked to a broader project entitled “A edición literaria na Galiza, 1975-2000” (PID2020-119605RB-I00), coordinated by Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián.

The aim of the meeting is to show the public the work of women publishers and their role in the industry and in the Galician publishing world. For this reason, and following the line of research begun in 2021, the purpose is to produce a first catalog of women active in the sector.

The day began with the presentation of the advances and initial results of the project “A edición literaria en la Galicia, 1975-2000”, by Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián and Ánxela Lema. Afterwards, and as the central point of the research meeting, the session: Editar libros: tres experiencias en primeira persoa took place, where three women of wide professional activity in the publishing field: Helena Pérez (Edicións Xerais), Ana Guerra (Editorial Obradoiro) and Mª Xesús Gómez (Editorial Rodeira), presented their experiences and reflections on the sector.

In the last part of the day, each of the speakers was the protagonist of a working session. There, based on an extensive personal interview, an in-depth reflection on the specific problems of women in the publishing field was developed with the project’s research team.

The team of the project “A edición literaria na Galiza, 1975-2000” is formed by a multidisciplinary group of researchers of the UDC: Iria Sobrino, Xosé Ramón Freixeiro, Ánxela Lema, Mª Obdulia Luis, Xoán L. Venías, Inma Doval, Uxío-Breogán Diéguez and José Antonio Seijas, coordinated by Professor Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián (ILLA-UDC).
