Last Friday September 29th took place the G-NIGHT, the Galician Night of Researchers, a scientific dissemination event that is held simultaneously throughout Europe.
CITIC was part of the event offering an open day for secondary and high school students. In this case, 19 students from IES Ortigueira, enjoyed a guided tour of the center’s facilities testing various technological devices and knowing its relevant rooms such as the Technology Demonstrator, the Virtual Reality room and the Robotics Laboratory.
During the afternoon, CITIC researchers Thais Pousada García, Manuel Lagos Rodríguez, Patricia Concheiro Moscoso and Eva Pardo Otero, led a workshop on 3D technologies for people with disabilities in María Pita Square in A Coruña. There they presented low-cost 3D products and assistive technologies focused on improving the lives of people with disabilities, including virtual reality scenarios and creations that were carried out through the Inclusive Talents project. In addition, at 19:20, Thais and Manuel gave a brief talk on virtual reality scenarios applied to people with disabilities and on developments for the Optitrack platform.
The next day, during Saturday morning, several CITIC researchers, Paula Mª Castro Castro, Adriana Dapena Janeiro, Óscar Fresnedo Arias and Daniel I. Iglesia Iglesias offered at MUNCYT a workshop on electronic circuits for young inventors between 6 and 10 years old. Attendees were able to learn basic concepts of electronics and their application in everyday life, as well as small curiosities related to electromagnetism.
