04/02/2026 - CITIC
  • LandraCiencia is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science fair promoted by the Carballo City Council, which will hold its third edition next 8 February
  • Verónica Bolón, who is part of the organising team, will present the Green AI proposal of the UDC-Inditex Chair to explain what artificial intelligence is and how it can contribute to sustainability; and Adriana Dapena and Paula Castro will explain the TuTIC project to create electrical circuits and experiment with sensors

CITIC of UDC will take part in a new edition of the LandraCiencia science outreach fair next 8 February, in Carballo, with two proposals. The first is the Green AI project, linked to the UDC-Inditex Chair, in which Verónica Bolón, a member of the event’s organising team, will explain what artificial intelligence is and how it can contribute to sustainability. The second is the TuTIC project, which will be presented by researchers Adriana Dapena and Paula Castro and will allow participants to build electrical circuits and experiment with sensors.

In addition to the ICT field, the fair, framed within the programme of activities for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, also offers workshops and talks on social sciences, health sciences, ecology, as well as recreational activities and an experiment zone for all audiences.

In total, nine research teams will present cutting-edge projects from 10:30 to 13:30 on the upper floor of the municipal market, with the shared objective of bringing science closer to citizens, fostering scientific vocations from childhood and making visible the role of women in research.

Initiatives such as LandraCiencia, notes CITIC researcher Verónica Bolón, are of “key importance in fostering scientific vocations, especially among girls”, since, she recalls, “women are still a minority, around 13%, in the field of technological sciences”.
