The town of Seixalbo, in the province of Ourense, hosted the presentation of the Freire Carril Award on June 29. The award, granted annually by the cultural association Agromadas, was presented this year to Javier Pereira Loureiro, Deputy Director of CITIC at the University of A Coruña (UDC), who was born in this Galician town.
The recognition highlights his outstanding academic and teaching career, his personal integrity, and his role as an ambassador for Galicia in the international arena. The tribute aimed to celebrate not only his professional excellence but also his strong ties to his hometown of Seixalbo.
The award ceremony marked the closing of another edition of the Festa do Foros, an event organized by Agromadas for nearly two decades that has become a flagship occasion for cultural and social revitalization in the neighborhood.
The event was chaired by Agromadas president Manuel Hermino Iglesias and the association’s secretary José Manuel Álvarez, who emphasized the importance of recognizing local talent that leaves a lasting impact both within and beyond Galicia.
