Researchers Ángel López and Jorge Castiñeiras participated in the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM), the largest statistics event held in North America. This year it took place between August 5th and 10th in Toronto.

CITIC researcher Ángel López Oriona presented on the 7th his paper “Fuzzy clustering of ordinal time series based on a novel distance”, in which he explains the use of a clustering algorithm applied to the financial field. Through the algorithm, databases of credit ratings from different countries can be analyzed.

On August 8th, researcher Jorge Castiñeiras presented his work “Cost-sensitive thresholding over a two-dimensional decision space”. The paper discusses the development of a new algorithm designed to optimize decision making in relation to cost analysis.
