Ruben Pérez and Martiño Rivera, CITIC researches, achieve third place in the final of the V National CyberLeague

CITIC researches Rubén Pérez and Martiño Rivera, members of the “th3_n00bs” cybersecurity competition team, won third place in the final of the V National CyberLeague held between November 14th and 16th. The team is also made up of Pedro Fernández-Arruti, Olalla Rama and Manuel Orois. The team is also made up of Pedro Fernández-Arruti, Olalla Rama and Manuel Orois. All the members are students who have already graduated from the Informatics School of the University of A Coruña. This group surpassed the more than a thousand students and higher education graduates from all over Spain who participated in this edition.

The competition, organized by the Civil Guard, has the pre-amateur, amateur and professional categories, and consists of solving a series of cybersecurity challenges proposed by experts in the field from all over Spain. In addition, it has a multidisciplinary nature, with challenges in the technical, legal and communication fields. After overcoming the qualifying phase and the semifinal online, a total of 16 teams faced the different challenges of the final, held in person at the Civil Guard Officers’ School, in Aranjuez, Madrid.

Rubén Pérez and Martiño Rivera are currently pursuing doctoral studies in the group Artificial Neuron Networks and Adaptive Systems – Medical Imaging and Radiological Diagnosis (RNASA-IMEDIR), associated with the Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña. Within the field of cybersecurity, his lines of research focus on the field of network traffic analysis with Artificial Intelligence and advanced authentication, respectively. Their work is directed by researchers Alejandro Pazos and Jose Vázquez Naya. On the other hand, Olalla Rama, Manuel Orois and Pedro Fernández-Arruti are developing their professional careers in the world of work, specializing in different areas of cybersecurity.
