Scientific Research and Supervised Learning at the June TIC Talk
26/06/2024 - CITIC
This Tuesday, the June TIC Talk Breakfast took place with presentations by David Rivas and Alberto Manzano. These sessions are held monthly and aim to promote synergies among research staff.
In this context, Alberto Manzano presented “TIC Talks, Science and Speculation”. During the talk, he initiated a debate on whether the scientific conference format is the most suitable for disseminating scientific advances and whether, based on the ideas extracted, the format commonly used in TIC Talks should be updated.
David Rivas presented «Self-Supervised Contrastive Learning for Retinal Image Registration». In his thesis, he addresses the functioning of retinal image registration methods using self-supervised learning, a task of great utility for facilitating and improving medical diagnoses. This type of learning, “self-supervised learning”, is used to learn directly from existing data without the need for explicit annotations provided by experts.
