Stay at CITIC of researchers Elmurod Kuriyozov, Sanatbek Matlatipov and Jaloliddin Rajabov from the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek
Carlos Gómez, member of CITIC, invited researchers Elmurod Kuriyozov, Sanatbek Matlatipov and Jaloliddin Rajabov from the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, to stay at the center from August 20 to September 15. The purpose of the visit is to attend a seminar-training organized in connection with the project they are working in collaboration.
The experts are developing the project “UzUDT: Universal Dependencies Treebank and parser for natural language processing on the Uzbek Language”, of which Carlos Gómez is an external collaborator, which was awarded to the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Intellectual Technologies of the National University of Uzbekistan in the framework of the “Modernizing Uzbekistan National Innovation System” supported by the World Bank and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The project is designed to address the linguistic complexities of the Uzbek language through the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Its work aims to enrich the understanding of Uzbek syntax in addition to facilitating and improving NLP applications, thus contributing to the advancement of language technologies.
The development of the project spans multiple phases, all focused on addressing different aspects of NLP enhancement, such as advanced tools in sentiment analysis, entity recognition and morphological analysis. In addition, it incorporates the development of an UzUDT (Universal Dependency Treebank), for the Uzbek language. For the researchers, it is necessary to include UzUDT as an open source project, so that everyone can easily access its application.
