"Technology improves people's quality of life"

21/11/2023 - CITIC

The assistant director of CITIC, Javier Pereira and the Technology teacher at the Rego de Trabe Secondary School in Culleredo, Beatriz Méndez, participated in the program “El gallo que no cesa” of RNE.

Pereira highlighted the value of the Inclusive Talents Programme, an initiative promoted by CITIC in collaboration with ASPACE Coruña in favour of inclusive technology. The main objective is to promote STEM vocations and make visible the challenges that people with cerebral palsy face in their day-to-day lives.

Through this program, secondary students from Galicia will have to seek technological solutions to challenges that will be proposed by users of the ASPACE entity.

“For us it was very interesting to promote ICT vocations among students. On the one hand, they all see that technology improves people’s quality of life and on the other, we visibility the life of people with disabilities,” said the assistant director of CITIC.

In relation to the participation and involvement of schools, Méndez emphasized that “when ASPACE users came to present the project, we were very struck by the reaction of the students. It’s a project that develops empathy enormously.”

Inclusive Talents celebrates its fourth edition this year with a success that has been consolidated throughout its trajectory, which materializes in a greater participation of educational centers and in a great impact at the environmental and social level.
