- The event, which brings together more than 50 speakers in Santiago de Compostela on February 21 and 22, features representatives from nine Spanish and European universities and spokespersons from the science, technology, and investment ecosystems of Madrid, Comunidad Valenciana, Murcia, País Vasco, Andalucía, Aragón, Cataluña, and Galicia.
The director of CITIC, Manuel G. Penedo, participates this Thursday, February 22, in the second meeting “Investing in Science is Profitable. Impact and Return”, organized by Unirisco and Bio&Tech Smart Capital, which analyzes the impact of disruptive technologies and the importance of creating entrepreneurial ecosystems. The meeting takes place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of USC.
“Today, disruptive technologies are developed in research centers and leading companies that have solvency and stable lines. In the university itself, frontier research is carried out in research centers, but to be able to carry them out, stable financing plans are necessary for the maintenance of the lines and for the stabilization of personnel,” explains the director about his intervention in the debate table where he addresses “Investment in disruptive technologies: Do we exceed the limits of knowledge?”
Manuel Penedo also highlights that “regarding CITIC of the Universidade da Coruña, we are pioneers in the research of green algorithms. Recently, we have received recognition from the ENIA chair supported by Inditex, one of the most important companies in our country. In addition, we focus on the social projection of technology, with inclusive developments and personalized medicine”.
