AI as a strategic tool to improve business productivity and logistics
- The CITIC at the UDC hosts the micro-credential course “AI applied to the control and improvement of production and logistics processes”, a practical training aimed at professionals who wish to incorporate artificial intelligence into the operative management of their organisations.
Those interested can pre-register until the 15th of March: link.
A Coruña, March 4th, 2026
The Universidade da Coruña has opened the registration period of the micro-credential “AI applied to the control and improvement of production and logistics processes”, a practical formation aimed at professionals who wish to incorporate artificial intelligence into the operative management of their organisations.
The training will take place from the 8th to the 30th of April 2026, during the afternoon, combining online theoretical sessions with in-person practical sessions at the CITIC, on the Elviña Campus (A Coruña). It will be taught by the teaching staff at the Escuela Politécnica de Ingeniería de Ferrol (EPEF).
The micro-credential offers an applied vision of AI on the productive and logistics field, boarding key subjects such as demand prediction, inventory optimisation, process simulation, management tasks automation and data analysis for decision-making.
With a mostly practical methodology, the students will work with accessible tools such as MS Excel, simulation and optimisation solutions, Microsoft tools and generative AI, with no need of advanced programming skills.
The course is specially prepared for industry and production professionals, including those in positions charged with operations, planification and continuous improvement. It is also aimed at logistics and supply chain managers, as well as SMEs and other organisations with an interest on incorporating applied artificial intelligence into their processes.
The micro-credential, with a 30-hour duration, is structured in four weeks or training modules. The first module, “Optimisation fundamentals in production”, will take place the 8th, 9th and 10th of April. The second one, “Inventories, planification and applied AI”, will be covered on the 16th and 17th of April. The third module, “Smart logistics and operative analysis”, will occur on the 23rd and 24th of April. Finally, the last module, “Automation and digital control”, will be taught on the 28th, 29th and 30th of April.
The in-person sessions will be centred around solving real life problems, developing models and constructing solutions directly applicable to a professional setting.
The course will be directed by Javier Pernas Álvarez and co-directed by Rosa Ríos Prado, together with a teaching staff made up of university professors and professionals with great experience in optimisation, simulation, logistics and AI applied to engineering and decision making.
Registration period
The period for registration will be open from February 23rd to March 15th 2026, and the period for formalisation from March 16th to the 29th.
The training is aimed at people between 25 and 64 years of age, and has a subsidised price of 85 euros, thanks to the financing of the Micro-credits Plan of the Ministry of Universities under the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the NextGenerationEU European Funds. The price without subsidising is 280 euros.
About the CITIC
The CITIC is an investigation centre that boosts progress and excellency at R&D&I applied to ICT, created in 2008 by the Universidade da Coruña (UDC). The scientific activity is structured around four main areas of research: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Engineering; High-Performance Computing; and Smart Services and Networks, as well as a research area transversal to all others: Cybersecurity.
The CITIC is credited as a Centre of Excellence and a member of the CIGUS Network for the 2024-2027 period, which guarantees the quality and impact of its research. The endorsement, structure and improvement of the CITIC is cofinanced by the Xunta de Galicia and 60% by the European Union within the framework of the Operative Program FEDER Galicia 2021-2027, with the goal of promoting “a more intelligent Europe: An innovative and intelligent economic transformation” (ED431G 2023/01).
