The CITIC researcher of the University of Coruña, Amparo Alonso, will give a talk tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, within the Specialization Course in Social Sustainability (CESIS) of the Inditex-UDC Chair of Sustainability.

In her presentation, which will take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Coruña (Elviña Campus), from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Amparo Alonso will introduce postgraduate students to topics related to sustainability in AI.

The so-called green artificial intelligence is a line of work that is being promoted by different groups of the CITIC of the UDC in line with the Government’s National Green Algorithms Plan. AI applied to green algorithms is a set of systems whose goal is to interpret all the data of an entity and translate it in the most sustainable, most responsible and least polluting way for the planet. In this sense, there are two ways to apply this type of algorithms: “Green in AI”, algorithms that are created sustainably, that consume fewer resources in their development and that achieve the same result and “Green by AI”, algorithms that generate a sustainable impact.

The promotion of AI is one of the strategic axes of the Digital Spain 2025 Agenda, within which the national plan is framed. Its objective is to place Spain at the forefront of the development of more environmentally friendly AI, supporting leading research centers and the economic fabric of our country.
