A Coruña, March 18th, 2026
This Tuesday, the CITIC hosted a visit from the Galician Health Cluster, in a session that highlighted the centre’s scientific and technological work on health projects. This activity is part of the “UDC Connects with Galician Clusters” series, promoted by the Knowledge Transfer Office of the Universidade da Coruña, which aims to share the university’s research and innovation capabilities with companies and organizations within the Galician ecosystem.
During the visit, Iván Rarís, manager of the Health Cluster, learned about CITIC’s main lines of research, which range from advanced biomedical data analysis and artificial intelligence applied to health, to the development of medical technology and innovative digital tools for the healthcare sector. Javier Garrido, Head of Transfer and Innovation at CITIC, along with a group of researchers from the centre, presented these projects, which allowed for the identification of potential avenues for collaboration between the business sector and the centre’s research groups, thus opening opportunities for joint initiatives, technology transfer, and the development of innovative solutions that can have a direct impact on improving the health and well-being of society.
The visit reaffirmed CITIC’s role as a leading centre in Galicia in health research and innovation, highlighting not only its scientific excellence but also its ability to translate research results into practice, with the aim of contributing to the development of real solutions for the healthcare sector.
The day continued with a visit to the CICA (Interdisciplinary Center for Chemistry and Biology) at the UDC, where various research groups from the centre’s biomedicine area presented their main lines of work, emphasizing their potential to generate innovative solutions in the field of health from a One Health perspective. This session was also joined by research staff from CITENI (Centre for Research in Naval and Industrial Technologies) of the Ferrol Industrial Campus, as well as from other non-affiliated groups of the UDC, reinforcing the collaborative and transversal vision of research at the university.
