Galician university programming is gathered at the AdaByron 2026 with technological support from CITIC
A Coruña, April 27th, 2026
This past Friday, April 24th, the three institutions part of the Galician University System that offer the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering – The Faculty of Computer Science at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Higher School of Computer Engineering at the Universidade de Vigo (UVIGO) – held simultaneously a new edition of the ADAByron Galicia 2026 competition, considered one of the most notable programming competitions for university students.
The event brought together teams from various Galician universities for a day marked by innovation, problem-solving and teamwork. AdaByron, which originated in the Community of Madrid and has been open to other Spanish universities since 2022, aims to foster students’ programming skills and encourage their participation in international competitions such as the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest). To this end, the competition offers challenges of varying levels of difficulty, accessible to both first-year students and more advanced participants.
The Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) at the UDC played a key role in the development of the competition, providing technical support. Thanks to a server at the centre, the organisers were able to monitor the progress of the competition at all times via a virtual judge, which was responsible for automatically evaluating the solutions submitted by the participating teams from A Coruña with precision and in real time.
Winners
The Riemann Haters 3.0 team, from the Universidade de Vigo, emerged as the winner of AdaByron Galicia 2026. Meanwhile, the S4nt4 C0mp4ñ4 team, comprising second-year students Isabel Villar García, Pedro Rey Anca and Daniel Gómez Lamigueiro, was the winner at the Universidade da Coruña venue.
At the same time, the B300 team, also from the UDC, took first place in Category A-aimed at teams whose members are in their first year-. This team consists of Hugo Domínguez Conde, Pablo Barreiro Cores and Adrián Fandiño Suárez.
The top-ranked teams in this regional phase will have the opportunity to participate in the AdaByron national finals, which will be held on July 2026.
The competition thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting emerging talent in the fields of programming and computer engineering, fostering the development of key skills in a competitive, inclusive and collaborative environment.
