The Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies of the Universidade da Coruña (CITIC) organizes, together with the R Chair in Cybersecurity (UVigo, UDC, and the company R) and atlanTTic of the University of Vigo, the first edition of TalentoCibeR. The event aims to showcase cybersecurity talent in Galicia and foster new vocations among young people, bringing together companies and talent in the same space.
The event will be held on March 14 at CITIC’s facilities, and the program will include practical workshops, a round table, and the third edition of the “C3TF” competition in Capture The Flag format.
The event will take place simultaneously in A Coruña, Vigo, and also remotely. This event is supported by Microsoft, the Faculty of Computer Science of the Universidade da Coruña (FIC), the School of Telecommunication Engineering of the University of Vigo (EET), and the CIFP Rodolfo Ucha Piñeiro of Ferrol.
Workshops and talks on cybersecurity
TalentoCibeR will begin with two parallel workshops: one aimed at Vocational Training students and another for students of technical degrees such as AI, Data, Computer Science, or Telecommunications.
The workshop titled “New era: holistic security in Microsoft 365 and automated incident response using AI” will be given by Manuel García González, Senior Security Architect at Microsoft. It will focus on the Microsoft 365 E5 licensing suite in trial license management. It will take place at CITIC and in the EET’s Graduate Hall.
On the other hand, the workshop “The beginning of the computer forensic procedure: acquisition of evidence on PCs, mobiles, and USB drives” will be led by Rafael López García, a professor at CIFP Rodolfo Ucha Pino of Ferrol. This course will teach how to acquire certain forensic evidence on different devices using both hardware tools (cloners) and free software tools (FTK Imager, Caine, adb, WhatsApp Key/DB Extractor, Avilla Forensics, etc.). It will be held in the Network Room of CITIC and in room T214 of the EET.
Each seminar will last two hours, and registration is mandatory through the following link: https://catedrarciberseguridade.com/talento-ciber/.
Next, the round table “Employability and career opportunities in cybersecurity” will take place, where representatives from the universities of A Coruña and Vigo, along with professionals from Galician companies, will answer questions such as: what futures can open up once university or vocational training is completed, or what are the national and international profiles of the cybersecurity career, among others.
After the debate, the audience will be able to exchange impressions with the speakers over a snack.
C3TF Competition
In the afternoon, the third edition of the C3TF will be held at CITIC, a competition in CTF (Capture The Flag) format, where participants from high school, vocational training, undergraduate, and master’s programs from educational institutions across Spain will have four hours to solve various cybersecurity-related challenges in the shortest possible time.
Three prizes will be awarded for the cyber challenge, funded by the R Chair in Cybersecurity, to the winning teams: the first team will receive €1,000, the second €700, and the third prize will be €400.
Registration is mandatory and can be done through this link: https://c3tf.io/inscripcion/.
