The Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña hosted this Thursday, July 17th, the closing session of the third edition of AddVenture, the university program for entrepreneurship and innovation promoted by the Social Councils of UDC and USC.

CITIC researchers have been honored with two awards and one nomination at the XXXI Conference on University Teaching in Computer Science (JENUI 2025).

The Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies at the University of A Coruña has served as the venue for an international course focused on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its applicability in the search for and identification of missing migrants.

This morning, CITIC hosted a new edition of the TIC Talk Breakfasts. On this occasion, the session had a particularly international character, featuring the participation of four students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who are currently carrying out a research stay at the centre.

The talk, titled “Artificial Intelligence for Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics: Methods and Applications”, brought together an audience composed of research staff, professionals from the technology sector, and students, both in person and online.

The town of Seixalbo, in the province of Ourense, hosted the presentation of the Freire Carril Award on June 29, an annual distinction granted by the cultural association Agromadas. This year, the award was presented to Javier Pereira Loureiro, Deputy Director of CITIC.

Researcher Omar Álvarez has been awarded the PhD Award at the 9th edition of the European-African Conference on Wind Engineering (EACWE 2025), recently held in Trondheim, Norway.

CITIC is organizing a lecture next Monday, July 7, featuring Professor Paulo Cortez, Full Professor at the Universidade do Minho and one of the most renowned voices in the field of applied artificial intelligence. The talk is titled “Artificial Intelligence for Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics: Methods and Applications.”

CITIC researchers Martín Naya and Alejandro Romero, who are actively involved in the European project PILLAR-Robots, are organizing the international workshop “Alignment through Purpose in Autonomous Robots”, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic.

The CITIC team participated last week in the third Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTT3) of the Erasmus+ Design2Freedom project, held from June 24 to 26 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
